What is a Declaration of Performance (DOP) and what information will the new CE mark need to declare?
Essential requirements of the DOP
THE DOP must be drawn up by the manufacturer, who then assumes responsibility for the conformity of the product with the declared performance. The product type must be identified by a unique identification code and defined in relation to performance classes (Euroclasses) in EN50575. CE marking may not be applied unless a DOP is available
The Declaration of performance must show
- Declaration of performance number
- Unique identification code of the product-type
- Intended use
- Manufacturer
- Authorised representative
- System/s of AVCP
- Harmonised standard & Notified body
- European Assessment Document/European Technical Assessment/Technical Assessment Body/Notified body
- Declared performance
Appropriate Technical Documentation and/or Specific Technical Documentation
* Where cable is imported from outside the EU then the Importer is responsible
The new CE label should be applied to the cable packaging and must show:
- Identification number of the testing body
- Name and address of the manufacturer
- The year cable first put on the market
- The DOP reference number
- The declared euroclass reference
- The European product standard
- Declared euroclass performance
- A unique identification code
- Intended use of the product
This is much more information than appears on many products currently available in the market and makes it harder to sell sub standard cables.
